Fall is upon us and the students have returned to the UConn campus and Storrs Center businesses. What new businesses have opened over the summer or are under construction and projected to be open in the near future?
1206 Storrs Road, the new 5,000 square foot building near Price Chopper at the corner of Route 195 and Charles Smith Way is home to the following new additions:
- Hair Cuttery: A full service salon franchise offering cuts, styling, coloring and waxing. Now open. http://www.haircuttery.com/
- Wingstop: Wing franchise owned by the owners and operators of Storrs Center’s Moe’s Southwest Grill & Mooyah Burgers, Fries & Shakes. Now Open. I think, I couldn’t verify by phone but here are some comments on Reddit. Check out their menu.
- The UPS Store: Not open yet. No info available.
Bliss Boutique: Owner Kim Cash has run the Bliss Boutique on High Street in Willimantic since 2013 and it is a very popular and high quality consignment shop. Read more about Bliss coming to Storrs Center at 34 Wilbur Cross Way.
- Thinkitdrinkit: Personalized nutritional drinks. Still not open. 1 Royce Circle. Thinkitdrinkit was originally scheduled for May 2015.
- EFix: Cell phone and computer repairs and service. Now Open. 1 Royce Circle. Check out their facebook page.
- Educational Playcare: Daycare /school for infants through 6th grade. 8 other locations in CT. Not open yet. 28 Wilbur Cross Way. Educational Playcare has a projected opening date of November 2015.

If you are a fan of food trucks, UConn is sporting a couple around campus as a new initiative from UConn Dining Services to relieve some of the congestion at the dining halls and to offer students a little variety: Food for Thought, a taco truck and The Blue Cow for ice cream. They are on campus 11am to 3pm weekdays and move around on the weekends.
The annual Celebrate Mansfield Festival takes place Sunday, September 20th from 12 noon to 4 at Storrs Center. Food, activities, information about local services and goods and a good band make for a great afternoon. Don’t forget the fracking waste ban petition will be there as well for those of you who have asked where to find it and sign it.
