Staycation this weekend with Mansfield Area local events

September StrollThis weekend is packed with local events and it appears, continued good weather this beautiful September weekend.    If you don’t have plans yet you may want to stop by any of the following FREE events:

The September Stroll in downtown Willimantic will take place Saturday, September 20th.  There are over 20 participating merchants offering discounts or specials including:

The Lebanon Green is hosting the first Department of Agriculture’s Farmland Preservation Celebration on Farmland Preservation CelebrationSaturday from 11 to 5 pm.  The event is free.  There is food for sale prepared by chefs from Cavey’s in Manchester and Max’s Oyster Bar in West Hartford and local vendors, Buell’s Orchard and the Farmers Cow will have selections as well.  The event will feature live bluegrass music by Shady Creek, square dancing, a hay maze, face painting, horse drawn hay rides, a bounce house and an appearance by Governor Dan Malloy.

Celebrate Mansfield Mansfield’s 11th annual Celebrate Mansfield festival is Sunday, September 21st at 12 noon until 4 pm.  Featured this year is the band Humming House, Kidsville Kukoo Revue, cooking demonstrations by the  UConn Dining Services, and the annual parade with the UConn marching band, cyclists, puppets from the Ballard Institute, community groups, teams and local businesses. Park for free at the garage, E.O. Smith & Audrey Beck Building.

If you and or your children want to ride their bikes in the parade you should meet at the corner of South Eagleville Road (Route 275) and Storrs Road (Route 195) at 11 am.
