Tech Park News: According to the Hartford Business Journal, UConn is set to open a cutting edge research center for microscopy and materials science research in collaboration with the FEI Company, as part of the new UConn Tech Park in Storrs CT scheduled to open in 2017.
The FEI Company, based in Oregon plan to join forces with UConn in the new research venture with the world’s most advanced electron microscopes. The practical uses of this research could be to produce lighter and stronger metal parts for everything from solar panels to automotive components.
FEI will the one of the first tenants in the Innovative Partnership Building, the 115,000 square foot building that will feature flexible use laboratories and research facilities and is expected to be ready for occupany in 2017.
Storrs Center Update:
CVS is now open at 8 Royce Circle. Still to come this fall at 8 Royce Circle is Bruegger’s Bagels and Jamba Juice. Thinkitdrinkit will be opening their first retail location at 1 Royce Circle in Storrs Center. Educational Playcare at 28 Wilbur Cross Way is on the plan for fall of 2015.
As mentioned in a previous post, Wingstop and Haircuttery are two of the 3 tenants being sought for the 5,000 square foot building adjacent to Price Chopper on the corner of Storrs Road and Charles Smith Way. They are expected to be open Spring 2015.
